| Tem um REVIEW, que eu fiquei com preguiça de traduzir, então leiam ae, e se alguém quiser traduzir... enjoy! Review (9.813/10):Never before a Radiohead-album started so immediate and in-your-face as their new one, titled ''Pot Of Gold''. 'Spooks' must be the sprightliest thing they've ever commited to tape; short, raw and almost entire instrumental (at the end Thom screams a scream as if he has just escaped a lifelong sentence).
But before you get the chance to let this surprise of an opener sink in it's already finished and flows apparently completely logical (as all things in the Radiohead-universe seem to follow their own weird rules) into the 2nd track, that kicks of as the opposite of the track before: acoustic guitar and unstable vocals. But then at the middle of the song the band kicks in and they appear to explore another new territoty, after the surfrock of the track before, this one's could be called 'pubrock', well in a sophisticated way of course, but still. Oasis would kill to write a song like this, but they've failed.
The 3th track, ''Come To Your Senses'', starts again with acoustic guitars, but then they get joined by banjo and mandoline and tribal percussion. It's a long track, this one, and it seems to get trippier and trippier near the end. This one feels like it has been hidden under the dirt for a thousand years, or something like that.
''Slave'' is the first electronic track of the album. Yeah, we would almost forget that Radiohead can do that as well. This song, that has been soundchecked before in Dublin and Amsterdam, starts like something Missy Elliott could do. But then in the middle of the song a scary but sexy orchestra kicks in and it all gets a dark kind of discofeel.
The orchestra flows perfectly into the next track, the long-expected ''Big Boots''. Joined by harpsichord and the best guitarline since The Beatles' She Said She Said, this one's already a massive classic. And if it's not enough, a brassband joins in and works towards the greatest climax ever heard in human history.
Now we need a breath and Radiohead knows, so the next thing we get are long drowning synthlines with a lot of silent noise between them. A lonesome noisy guitar fades in and out and Thom sings something about suits that don't fit. Well, everyone has their own trouble don't you think? But this desperate song changes slowly and subtle into what seems to be a whole different song, full of light and hope. We hear a rhodes piano and Thom gets joined on vocals by Ed and Phil in what you could call, ehm, 'close-harmony'. They sing about 'cream in airport coffees' and that they will 'froze up like this'. Ironically The Beat contains no beat at all.
''Burn That Witch'', another beatless song, might be, despite it's title, the sweetest song of the album. Very smooth also. Subtle arranged with orchestra and choir. In the middle of the song Ed takes over the leadvocals and then we get an old-fashioned duet between him and Thom.
Phil, waiting for two tracks long to do something with his drumkit, kicks of the next track in a way that can only be described by the word 'funky'. And ''Fifths'' could be described as ''Arpeggi Goes To The Disco''. This one is really screaming for an extended dancefloor-remix. Would be fun to see if people could handle that weird break and the long and incredible banjo-solo that follows.
''Bodies Laughing'' might be the most psychedelic song of the album. This one, soundchecked before in San Diego, combines the funky feel of the track before (actually more bossanova) with a much more cryptic sound that reminds Kid A's In Limbo and the liveversion of The Gloaming.
The next song, the pianodriven ''Super Collider'', was already played by Thom alone on last tour. The album-version is very similair, except he's joined now by a glockenspiel, toypiano and trumpet. Very heartwarming song.
The last song of the album is a very old one. ''Follow Me Around'' contains a lot of weird guitarnoise on the background, that goes louder and louder, take over the song for a while, rock out and then turns into a sort of hymn with many many layers of sound and vocals (the whole band is humming now) that could last on forever.
While it fades away a very short pianosong, where Thom sing about his ''pot of gold, told and unfold'' closes the album in a similair fashion to Abbey Road's ''Her Majesty'' in a mysterious but still very satisfying way. .
Radiohead has done it again! ''Pot Of Gold'' might be an album that both babies and the elderly might enjoy. It's an album that contains so many secrets, you could play it all day long and still be surprised every time. And, as usual, the artwork is very intriguing again. Patterns of walnuts, olives and bombshells on very white backgrounds. This masterpiece is perfect in every possible way!___ AEAE, Big Boots será A música! | |

| Hum não sei. Há muitas informações, a atease qdo se reporta a algo "duvidoso" como as notícias da tour lantinoamericana, costuma mencionar, então, dúvida msm, querendo que seja verdade, mas tem coisas bem estranhas na descrição tipo: Radiohead has done it again! ''Pot Of Gold'' might be an album that both babies and the elderly might enjoy..."Qual álbum tem esta característica? Isso por causa do "fez de novo" Sinceramente, se não for verdade, tá parecendo brincadeira da própria banda pra preencher o vazio de "atividades", muito bem descrito, mas humm | |
